Schmitt Offers Free ‘Shredding with Schmitt’ Paper Shredding Event

August 7, 2019

ALTOONA – Rep. Lou Schmitt (R-Blair) invites residents to his Shredding with Schmitt event to have their important documents shredded for free by Burgmeier’s Hauling. The event will be held at People’s Natural Gas Field (Curve Stadium), located at 1000 Park Ave., Altoona, on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 4-7 p.m.

“This event gives residents of the 79th District the ability to have important documents shredded on-site as they look on,” Schmitt said. “Identity theft is a growing crime in the nation that has cost Americans more than $100 billion over six years. Shredding important documents is an easy step to battle identity theft. I encourage residents to take advantage of this event as a means of protecting their identity.”

Residents are encouraged to bring documents that contain credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, medical information and bank account information to be shredded. Residents are asked to bring papers and documents in loose form. Magazines, books or trash will not be accepted. This is an event for residents only; no businesses, please.

Donations for the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society will be accepted during the event.
