Schmitt Named to Committee Leadership Position

March 21, 2019

HARRISBURG – Rep. Lou Schmitt (R-Blair) today announced that he has been appointed by Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) to serve as chairman of the Subcommittee on Railroads under the House Transportation Committee for the 2019-20 Legislative Session.

“As a freshman legislator, it is indeed an honor to be named a subcommittee chairman, and I sincerely thank the speaker for making this appointment,” said Schmitt. “As a native of Altoona, where the Pennsylvania Railroad has a rich history, and the son and grandson of men who worked there, I am well aware of the critical role railroads play in the prosperity of our state’s economy, both now and in the future. I look forward to working with my colleagues on issues related to Pennsylvania’s rail system.”

During the current session, Schmitt also serves as a member of the Commerce, Local Government, State Government and Urban Affairs committees.
